There's so much to celebrate!
Dispatches from our weekend trip to Lexington, VA. Plus milkshakes, astronauts, and unexpected joys. 💐
Hi, I’ve missed you!
This week has been a whirlwind, but in the best way possible. In today’s newsletter:
A mood board for summer

3 Small Joys this Week
An anniversary!
Summer Feelings
The start of a new season is a wonderful opportunity to reset your intentions, and you might consider creating a vision board to help inspire you. See my summer board above!
Lately, I’ve really found myself wanting to be more intentional, and this summer is no different. As we head into the months ahead, I'm feeling the pull to focus on:
More adventures in nature. 🏔️
Gatherings with loved ones. Outdoor dinner party, anyone? 🥂
Spending quality time in the garden (hopefully with tons of zinnias!). 💐
Living more in my body and less in my head. 🧘🏼♀️
💭 What’s on your summer vision board?
Escape to Virginia
I was thrilled to travel down to Shenandoah Valley this weekend for a family wedding in Lexington, VA!
This small mountain town was so charming and I would recommend visiting the next time you’re considering a weekend trip outside DC!
Lexington has a fun college town vibe thanks to Virginia Military Institute being nearby, and there are dozens of small businesses and unique restaurants throughout downtown—we had a great time exploring!

It was a beautiful day for a ceremony at Big Spring Farm! And I think this dress I rented from Nuuly is a keeper, too.

3 Little Joys This Week
Marie Kondo taught us to look for the things in life that spark joy. As a major sentimentalist, I take that motto to heart. So here are 3 things that brought a smile to my face this week:
1. Thrifted Treasures
I’m on a mission to cozy up our townhouse lately, so I’ve been on the lookout at thrift stores, antique shops, and estate sales for unique pieces. This week, I scored two beautiful handmade glass art bookends for my art studio / home office from an estate sale in town. I mean, how cute is this little tulip!
2. Tomatoes and other heirlooms
While in Lexington, I got to catch up with my father-in-law, a fellow gardener who never lets me leave empty-handed! In 2022, when we closed on our house, Shane’s dad helped us moved in and arrived that day with a batch of hostas from his Georgia garden that have since become the centerpiece of our front yard! This year, he gifted us a tomato plant. It’s already got a special spot in our backyard and I can’t wait to watch it grow.
Inspired by his gifts, I’ve started sharing offshoots of my own plants now! It’s a fun way to stay connected with friends and family—I highly recommend it as a hostess or housewarming gift idea!
3. It’s the Remix
After rocking a bob from age 12 to my college years, I’ve been growing my hair out for years now. But I had an itching feeling that it was time to switch things up again. So, the bob is back!
I left the hair salon feeling so refreshed after this change. If you’re considering chopping your hair off, here’s your sign!
Reach for the Moon
This week also marked my sixth anniversary of working for NASA, and I had the amazing opportunity to travel to NASA HQ with my team and interview the Artemis II crew for an upcoming project.
Sometimes my job is so surreal. Talking with the folks who are going to fly around the Moon and make their marks on history was one of those major pinch me moments.
After wrapping up that day, it was pouring out. But we walked a half mile in the rain down to the Wharf for some celebratory Shake Shack!
I mean, how else do you cap off a Red Letter Day?
Until next time, take care!
